GSPC wanted to add a map-based interface with minimum disruption to their existing system. In the event, the only changes required (beyond new page designs/templates) were to extend their database to store coordinates for each property and restrict searches based on coordinates.
GSPC also needed to determine the locations of properties from their postcodes. For this, they used an over-the-Internet location lookup service being provided jointly by XYZ and Interactive Information, using data licensed from the Post Office.
